Behind the Brand
I always encourage those I’m coaching to find user experience (UX) everywhere and anywhere in their background. For me, it was at my first job while in conversation with caregivers, patients, and doctors. Speaking to them about their journeys living with or treating various conditions was also where I learned the importance of holding space for those at the heart of any research project.
My career in research continued, advancing Design Thinking at Kaiser Permanence, then designing and leading a research strategy at Silicon Valley Bank. My process to get that job (in just 40 days!) is part of the curriculum I now coach aspiring UX Researchers on.Â
Today, I’m a full-time UX Researcher at Meta and lead UX projects with social justice organizations in my community. Through UX Outloud, I coach people on how to find and secure their dream UXR job, and shape their career in the field. I like coaching for the same reason I love UXR: it’s a way to unblock, problem solve, and work alongside people to get their needs met. Facilitating aha moments is something I’m a natural at, and I love helping people see what’s possible and meet their goals.Â
